Meet The Trainer
At the heart of Finn Safety Training is founder and lead trainer, Kristin Finn.
A highly experienced educator, consultant and trainer, Kristin spent over 10 years of her career in consultancy, and a further 15 years as a lecturer for Plymouth Business School, University of Plymouth before launching Finn Safety Training in 2025:
"I've built my working life and career around talking to people... researching and exploring behaviours, teaching and training, and helping to create those lightbulb moments. I spent the first 10 years of my career in consultancy, working with government bodies and think tanks around the the social and economic development agendas at the local, regional and national level. For the next 15 years, I was able to combine these skills with my personal love for live events too, as a lecturer at Plymouth Business School, University of Plymouth. There, I developed a specialism in crowd and event safety, as well as crisis, risk and resilience planning. I have always been interested in the human element of safety; understanding where and why things can go wrong and how best to make real and valuable changes.
My career pathway has led me to where I am today. Founder and Lead Trainer for Finn Safety Training. Safety is too-often perceived as a box-ticking exercise, but to be effective, it has to be at the heart of everything we do. I launched Finn Safety Training on several core values: to make safety relatable and achievable, to deliver engaging training that creates the 'lightbulb moments', and to instil the confidence, tools, and strategies required to prioritise and embed safety for real organisational change."
Kristin is a professional member of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) and FAIB (First Aid Industry Body), an approved IOSH training provider, licensed workplace and paediatric first aider and trainer, and holds professional qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Crowd Risk Analysis, with a PhD in Crowd Dynamics & Managing Event Safety.
With a warm, engaging delivery style, Kristin is a firm believer in creating confidence-inspiring, memorable learning and training experiences. She brings extensive experience of one-to-one business support and guidance, in-person and virtual classroom delivery, with strong knowledge of education-based quality assurance procedures and processes; experience that underpins the quality of training and support delivered through all of the services we offer today.
